SleepPhones System: Sleep Headphones – Great for insomnia!

Hello all! Dan here,

I forgot to write a review for this little gem so I’m adding it now. For those of you who find it hard to fall asleep at night (randomly or over an extended period of time), the SleepPhones Sleep Head Phones are definitely worth checking out from amazon.

These things have done wonders for my late night sleeping problems. Whenever I find it hard to fall asleep, I put on these headphones and plug in my CD player and play the sleep music they provide you. I know it sounds ridiculous that some how sounds can make you fall asleep, but these sounds have been scientifically proven to guide your brain to sleep. While these headphones don’t look like your conventional head phones, they definitely work to put you asleep.

woman-sleepphonesSleepPhones System Feature Review

  • Excellent sound reproduction headphones
  • 100% polyester fleece headband, roll it up for compact carry
  • Binaural beats with nature sounds for sleep brainwave entrainment
  • Can plug into any computer, cd player, iPod, or mp3 player.

If you are looking to buy the SleepPhones Headphone System, you can get it cheap here.

There was one thing I didn’t like about these put you to sleep headphones: the cord that you plug into your audio device can get real annoying at night. You can however, set this up and rig it properly to not tangle you up while you are rolling around in your sleep.

That said, this minor problem doesn’t ruin the product at all and I definitely suggest anyone with problems falling to sleep at night to try this.

Here is a review from another person who found these to work:

Michael S. Brown,

“I got these sleep headphones as a gift after trying a number of different ear buds and canal phones. NONE of them were comfortable enough to wear to bed while trying to fall asleep. The sleepphones on the other hand are completely comfortable, you just have to get the right size…”

Trouble Falling Asleep May Be An Insomnia Symptom. Cures for insomnia.

I have had many insomnia episodes in my life – mostly associated with stress. I noticed that whenever I have serious tests coming up, I always get really bad sleep a couple nights before. Like me, If you have constant trouble falling asleep at night, you might have developed insomnia.

Take this quiz here to determine if you have Insomnia. It also suggests the best cures for your type of insomnia.

There are three types of insomnia:

  • Transient Insomnia - This type occurs for only a few days and can be triggered by stress, jet lag, and changes in sleep schedule
  • Acute Insomnia - Disrupted sleep for 2-3 weeks. Can be caused by job loss, divorce, financial problems, etc.
  • Chronic Insomnia – This is the most serious type of insomnia which lasts for more than 3 weeks. If you think this is you, you should seriously consider seeing a doctor.

There are many things that can help with insomnia:

  • Exercise is great for burning up those depression and stress chemcials
  • Alcohol can really mess up your sleep. People believe since it is a depressant it will help you sleep better, but it actually makes you sleep lighter as your body metabolizes it.
  • Eating a night can really mess your sleeping up and can keep you awake because it makes your stomach work into overdrive when it should be resting.
  • Smokers are good candidates for insomnia. The nicotine in the cigarette acts like a stimulant and will keep you up at night.

Marpac SleepMate 980A sound conditioner review: Does it work?

Dan Cooper here,

If you have been reading my blog lately you will know that I’m heavily into certain sleeping quality products like visco foam mattresses, snoring mouth guards(great if you have a loud snorer in the house), etc. Today, I’m writing specifically about sound conditioners that block out unwanted sounds around you while trying to fall asleep.

Check out my favorite sleep sound conditioner – If you want to get one, I suggest you but it from Amazon.

Last night I was trying to fall asleep while the neighbors above me were having a big, loud, apartment party. Before I had the Marpac Sleepmate 980a sound conditioner, I probably wouldn’t have been able to fall asleep until their loud and annoying party was over. All I had to do to solve my noisy neighbor problem was turn on the machine which drowns out background noise. It worked surprisingly well considering how all the noise that was above me.

Marpac SleepMate 980a Sound Conditioner Spec Review:

marpac

  • Creates ‘white noise’ which masks out unwanted noises – especially useful in homes and offices
  • Recommended for restless sleepers, shift works, babies, or anyone who has loud and obnoxious neighbors!
  • You can control the sound it makes as well as the speed it operates at.
  • Creates a very relaxing sound that eases your mind and makes it easier to relax and fall asleep.

Is the sound conditioner machine worth buying?

I certainly think so. Considering how many sleepless nights is has undoubtedly saved me from, this machine is worth every penny. And it’s not that expensive of a product either – slightly under $50.

Here is another review I found online:

M. Chess,

“I started using white noise machines a few years ago but have had problems finding ones that actually last awhile. It also seems that a lot of the other products on the market have pre-recorded sounds. The Marpac actually generates it sound through some fan type mechanism and doesn’t play some stupid recorded sound. I am satisfied with the Marpac. It is a great solution if you are looking for a sound machine that will run through out the night and also makes a good noise to sleep to, this machine is for you.”

If you are interested in buying the Marpac 980A, you can buy it cheapest at Amazon here.

Anyway, just remember if you can’t fall asleep because of the noisy conditions around you, there are always solutions. One of things that I found to work the best is the Marpac Sleep sound conditioner which I highly recommend with this problem.
